Features
VoIP calls without the Internet.
Use any phone (including mobile phones) to call across the world and still enjoy PennyTel's ultra low charges.
Super savings from any phone!!
You'll only pay:
- The cost of a local call (or $0 if you use PennySIM) and
- PennyTel's low rate (see call plans)
Simply record all your contacts on the SmartDial web page. We'll then give you a new PennyTel SmartDial number for each to add to your mobile phone contact list. Just use the SmartDial number when you want to call and save big time. NO need to remember the new number - you've saved it under the contact's name!
When you can't answer the phone, send your voice messages to either your email address or to Penny's message bank. Retrieve your Voice Mail at a time to suit you.
Using your Penny account, dial 778 to retrieve your voicemail.
You can also access your voicemail by calling:
Sydney (61)2 82826188
Melbourne (61)3 90930898
Australia Wide (61)1300 282 288
You can send a fax through PennyTel over the internet rather than phone networks. No need for separate phone lines or a fax machine, and because it uses a web interface, you can access faxing services from anywhere around the world.
You can send and receive multiple faxes simultaneously and above all, PennyTel's fax engine converts your document to PDF or TIFF format and sends it to the recipient's fax machine over the standard telephone network. You'll receive confirmation whether the transmission was successful or not.
To receive faxes, acquire a fax number from the Penny Shop for a low flat monthly fee. When a fax is received by this number it will immediately be emailed to you.
What is this?
You can access Penny's low rates even when there is poor or no internet connection or where a firewall is stopping the Penny application from running.
Alternatively, you can also use our Penny SIM Product.
How it works?
Callback sends a request to the Penny network to call the party you are trying to contact and connects the call with you over the standard phone network.
How to setup?
There are 3 ways to setup the callback feature; Web Callback, ANI Callback and SMS Callback.
Web Callback
This is the most basic method. Use the web interface to enter the number you want to call and the number you want to receive the call on. You can initiate the call immediately, or defer it to another time. A deferred Callback allows you to make calls on a specific time or day - for example, to call someone on their birthday.
ANI CallBack
Automatic Number Identification (ANI) Callback is best when your internet is not available.
- Register the number that you will be calling from (eg your mobile phone number).
- Call Penny’s ANI access number using the same registered mobile phone number.
- The Penny network will recognize your registered number through Caller Line Identification (CLI) and automatically drop the call. This avoids a charge for the Callback setup.
- The Penny network will immediately call you back on the registered number and prompt you to enter the number that you are trying to reach.
- Enter the number and be connected straight away.
Call Filtering or Screening allows you to better manage your calls.
Only allow incoming calls to reach you when you want them. Options include:
- Time - you can decide who can contact you and at what time.
- Voicemail - you can set up which calls are received and what goes to voicemail individually or by groups of numbers.
- Barring - you can completely block a number if you wish to.
- Diverting - you can have your calls diverted or forwarded to a number of your choice, individually or as groups of numbers.
Stay connected, even when you are away, out of reach or cannot answer the call. Simply direct incoming calls to another number.
PennyTel allows you to control the calls you receive. You can choose to receive calls from nominated numbers, and at nominated times.
Now anybody can call a PennyTel customer from selected countries for the cost of a local call.
Simply give your PennyTel number to the person wishing to make a call. They call the local PennyTel number (for the cost of a local call), then dial your PennyTel number and are connected to you.
Send a SMS text directly from your computer and lose the 'phone-fumble'.
SMS texts are the most widely used mode of communication in the world, but repeated texting can be costly. PennyTel SMSs are only AUD$0.05c per message worldwide. You can text from anywhere in the world and your recipient will receive it as if it originates from your phone.
A DID is a traditional phone number assigned to your account so that your Penny account can receive calls too. This makes your PennyVoIP similar to any traditional phone.
