Features
Revolutionary Smart Dial – a world first!. Now you can enjoy inexpensive VoIP calls on your mobile without an internet connection!
How it works?
It’s just like making a normal call. You select the number, but instead of using the call button on your mobile, use the “Smart Dial” on your mobile screen.
Smart Dial automatically calls the Penny access number and uses the Penny VoIP network to complete the call. You are connected straight away.
How to setup?
The key to Smart Dial is that you need to have an existing call plan that allows you to call specific number(s) for a low or zero call rate. This is offered by many service providers under a family and friends plan or a fixed monthly charge plan. If you do not have this plan, you can sign up for PennySIM.
After checking that you have the right call plan, you will need to perform a simple procedure. This is to create an association of your contacts to the Penny network. To do this, simply synchronize your address book using the “Sync Address Book” button on the Penny log in page. For non-web enabled phones, simply log on at PennyTel to synchronize your contacts.
Choose the voicemail messages you wish to hear
PennyTel's Visual Voicemail allows you to see the names, dates,
durations of messages. Choose the messages to play rather than having
to listen to the entire voicemail 'queue.' You can save, forward or
replay the message.
What is this?
You can access Penny's low rates even when there is poor or no internet connection or where a firewall is stopping the Penny application from running.
Alternatively, you can also use our Penny SIM Product.
How it works?
Callback sends a request to the Penny network to call the party you are trying to contact and connects the call with you over the standard phone network.
How to setup?
There are 3 ways to setup the callback feature; Web Callback, ANI Callback and SMS Callback.
Web Callback
This is the most basic method. Use the web interface to enter the number you want to call and the number you want to receive the call on. You can initiate the call immediately, or defer it to another time. A deferred Callback allows you to make calls on a specific time or day - for example, to call someone on their birthday.
ANI CallBack
Automatic Number Identification (ANI) Callback is best when the internet is not available.
- Register the number that you will be calling from (eg your mobile phone number).
- Call Penny’s ANI access number using the same registered mobile phone number.
- The Penny network will recognize your registered number through Caller Line Identification (CLI) and automatically drop the call. This avoids a charge for the Callback setup.
- The Penny network will immediately call you back on the registered number and prompt you to enter the number that you are trying to reach.
- Enter the number and be connected straight away.
Send a SMS text directly from your computer and lose the 'phone-fumble'.
SMS texts are the most widely used mode of communication in the world. But repeated texting can be costly. PennyTel SMSs are only AUD$0.05c per message worldwide. You can text from anywhere in the world and your recipient will receive it as if it originates from your phone.
